MALTON,
only a mile away, is a vibrant market town, the coast at
Scarborough/Filey 20 miles east, York 15 miles to the west
complete with Minster, Viking and Railway Museums. For the
walkers amongst you to the North are the superb views and walks
of the North Yorks Moors and Dalby Forest. For the more daring
the theme parks of Flamingoland and Lightwater Valley are 20
mins and an hour away respectively. Other local attractions
include the Second World War Museum at Eden Camp, the Steam
Railway at Pickering, Castle Howard and numerous medieval castle
and abbey ruins. For the golfer, not only is there a 27 hole
course complete with driving range on the doorstep but the
championship courses of Ganton, Fulford and Strensall are all
within a 30 min. drive. For racing fans there are 10 racecourses
within the hour as well as mares and foals in your own front
garden.
Directions: How to get to Anson House.
From A 64(York):
Follow exit for Malton, continue straight on until you come to
the traffic lights. Turn right at traffuic lights, over the
river bridge and railway crossing. Immediately over the railway
crossing turn right up Welham Road - be careful the main road
bends left. Continue up Welham Road for about ¾ mile, when the
continuity of houses runs out on your right there is a tarmac
drive to Star Cottage (just before last street light on your
right and opposite turning for Hunters Way on your left).
Continue up drive and pass the new red brick houses on your left
(one of these is Anson House) and turn left immediately after
passing the houses and turn left again to park outside Anson
House.
From A64 (Scarborough): Follow exit for NORTON, keep straight on
until you come to railway crossing. Turn left immediately before
crossing this is Welham Road.
If asking for directions ask for Star Cottage which is next to
Malton Golf
Club.
Both the Railway Station (Main line from Scarborough to York and
Manchester Airport) and Bus Station are only 1 mile away from
Anson House.
